Skills Shortage: Identifying the Solutions not the Problems

  • Wednesday, May 17, 2023:12:45 PM - 1:15 PM

Description

Outdated licencing requirements, increasing wages, complexity around apprenticeships, low understanding on possible career paths and a lack of infrastructure to accommodate foreign maintenance engineers are some of the common issues cited in the skills shortage. How can we break down some of those barriers to entry, contemporise the curriculum and position the region to attract and retain talent? What licencing requirements need to be changed and updated? How can RAA and CASA support to improve hiring ability and promote the industry with an established career path? Attend to understand how the industry and government can work together and the role of digitalization in creating more attractive work environments.
