Chris began his aviation career as a pilot in the United States Air Force. His flight experience includes over 40 domestic and international aircraft and multiple deployments to Afghanistan, Iraq and North Atlantic Treaty Organization locations.
In addition to being an operational pilot, Chris trained as an operational test and evaluation pilot and had numerous roles in support of the development and delivery of several new systems to include the F-15/16, F-22 Raptor, AMRAAM, Predator/Reaper capabilities and early F-35 requirements. Additionally, he spent a number of years working with NATO and in multiple embassies as the Senior Defence Official and Defence Attaché.
Joining CASA in 2016, Chris was appointed in 2017 as the Executive Manager of the National Operations and Standards Division, a new division that focuses on current and future policies in civil aviation.
In his current role he is responsible for policy and legislation of all aviation safety standards. This includes licensing, flight operations, airworthiness, air navigation, airspace, aerodromes and remotely piloted aircraft systems, as well as the oversight of all nationally administered regulatory services and surveillance, including general and sport aviation, aircraft certification and production, air navigation services, airspace, aerodromes and remotely piloted aircraft systems.
