Profile

Glenn Ryan commenced as the CEO of Aviation Australia in March 2024. He is an accomplished leader and strategic workforce planner, with over 30 years of experience in training and workforce development, operational and strategic leadership and program management.

Prior to joining Aviation Australia, Glenn served in the Australian Army for 31 years, where he worked in a range of strategic, operational, workforce planning and development roles. Glenn commanded the 1st Recruit Training Battalion, and he was the Chief Operations Officer and then Chief of Staff of Forces Command, where he was responsible for the training and planning for Army’s conventional forces.

In 2018, Glenn worked within the Westpac Consumer Bank as the Head of Productivity and Process Improvement. In doing so, he was involved in important product, business and customer improvement programs.

In 2020, he was appointed as the Director General of Training and Doctrine – Army. In this role he controlled the national and international delivery of training while also leading the transformation of Army training to be future focused, delivering the workforce of the future, for the future demands.

In 2023 Glenn was made a Member of the Order of Australia for exceptional performance as Director General Training and Doctrine – Army. In addition to this Glenn was awarded a Conspicuous Service Cross as the Brigade Major of 1st Brigade, a Bar to the Conspicuous Service Cross for leadership as Commanding Officer of the 1st Recruit Training Battalion and a Meritorious Service Medal from the United States for service as a staff officer in ISAF Joint Command, Afghanistan.
