Viv has been in aviation for 43 Years with 40 years with Air New Zealand (AirNZ). He started out as an engineering mechanical apprentice in 1981 and worked on all types of aircraft as an AME/LAME. From 1995 Viv took on a number of different functions including Production Planning/Project management roles before moving into significant leadership positions including Business Planning Leader, responsible for all aspects of planning, finance and supply chain activity for the airlines MRO. Moving to a Customer Support Manager role in 2002 managing all external contracts for the airlines MRO maintenance/overhaul activity.
Viv also spent time working for The Boeing Company in 1998-1999 and Ansett Australia in 2001.
Viv continued to move through the MRO organisation. From 2005 as Heavy Maintenance Manager, Line Maintenance Manager, Head of the Christchurch Maintenance Base, the narrowbody MRO servicing significant volumes of airlines fleets in Australasia . These led to Senior Leadership Team role in 2013 as the GM - Aircraft Maintenance, responsible for line and heavy MRO maintenance, as well as MOC and Outstations for over 6 1/2 years. This activity included a significant of customer maintenance support in region.
In 2020 Viv spent time working in Singapore for AirNZ supporting activity being carried out by 3rd party MRO organisation. 2023/24, prior to role with Qantas, Viv spent 9 months working for Jet Aviation in their Cairns and Singapore MRO operations.
Viv has a degree as Batchelor of Applied Management and has also been involved in a significant process improvement and change in organisations and has been passionate MRO leader in the Australasian region.
