Successful international business leader with over thirty years’ experience in international and
domestic airlines (full service, hybrid and low-cost models). His expertise is in board and
stakeholder relations, business transformation, corporate strategy, network and fleet planning,
airline operations and aviation risk management.
Karam has held CEO, CCO and other Executive roles in various airlines across Asia/Pacific. He
is/has been a Board Director and Chairman of the Board in various organisations. The last fulltime
role was as the Chief Executive Officer of Royal Brunei Airlines. His knowledge of start-up
operations (Virgin Blue) and successful transformation at Royal Brunei and Fiji Airways puts him
in good stead to add value to organisations looking for ways to improve bottom-line and/or
transform their business for long term success. He has significant experience in the Australasian,
South Pacific and Asian aviation having worked at Virgin Australia, Fiji Airways and Royal Brunei
Airlines, for a significant part of his career.
Currently he works on specific projects for clients as an aviation Advisor. In addition, he has done
some part-time lecturing in aviation at the University of Southern Queensland.
He holds a Masters degree in Air Transport Management from Cranfield University and has honed
his skills by attending various programs at IATA and an Executive program in Strategy at Stanford
University. He has been a key-note speaker at various conferences and helped various
governments to shape aviation policy for their respective Countries.
